I never really thought about the long-term effects of using straws, but Russo made a point about the indifference in the world. I see it in my society and in my school, and there is always room to make a difference. In my mentorship, it will be important to speak up when an issue is at hand concerning the safety of the people at the hospital. Speaking up is always important. Last year, I did my mentorship project on the abuse of prescription drugs, which is an issue that I am still passionate about. I would love to help with this issue, but the government already has its own regulations to do so. The only thing that I can really do is raise awareness.
